Finance Assistant

The successful candidate will already have experience working in a finance team and be keen to work closely with the Financial Controller in shaping and running the Finance Team at Helastel.  They will take responsibility for the day to day transactional processes with a keen eye on and input into cash management and forecasting, as well as month end reconciliations and reporting.  The role offers the opportunity to learn and be involved in all facets of a finance team whilst being fully supported by the FC.  As we go through an exciting period of growth there will be plenty of scope to be involved in wider finance projects including automation and finance process reviews. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Manage the purchase ledger, supplier relationships and employee expenses ensuring processes are followed and procedures communicated as required to the wider business.
  • Maintain the cash flow forecast by ensuring daily movements are recorded; cash is reconciled daily; forecasted receipts and payments are updated weekly; and monthly summary information and analysis are produced. 
  • Reconciliation of key balance sheet items as part of the month end close process and assist the FC in producing monthly management accounts.
  • Responsibility for management of the accounts team mailbox, answering queries and providing assistance to staff, vendors and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Review, check and send invoices drafted by our operational teams to customers via Xero.
  • Assist the FC in processing of payroll.
  • Suggest changes and/or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency and cost reductions etc.

You’ll bring the following to our team:

  • Experience in a similar role 
  • Good working knowledge of Xero, Excel and Google Sheets 
  • Understanding of other financial software such as Autoentry, Dext, Chaser, ApprovalMax or similar.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and the month end close process
